Who Am I?

My name is Laurie Blickenstaff and I have been in your shoes. Not too long ago, my performance was hindered by low confidence and pressure-induced anxiety, which significantly diminished my enjoyment of my sport. After immersing myself in the study of the mental game, I managed to overcome those hurdles, ultimately succeeding under the highest pressure: as high call team at the World Series of Team Roping Finale in Las Vegas.

And the most amazing part? I did it with excitement, confidence and focus!


This transformation inspired my journey to become a certified mental performance coach, fueling my passion for sharing effective, proven strategies to help others elevate their game and have fun doing it.

Who is mental performance training for?

Mental performance training is for competitors at any level, and in any sport. This ranges from the beginner who is struggling with confidence or anxiety, to the elite athlete who wants to stay at the top of their game, and anyone in between. Mental performance work is simply another area of training that rounds out an athlete’s skill set. Just as you spend time developing your physical skills and technique, training for the mental demands of your sport is also a vital element.

Is mental performance training like therapy?

No. Mental performance training is NOT intended as, nor is it a substitute for, mental health care. As a certified mental performance trainer, I teach strategies based on sports psychology principles that are intended to help athletes reach peak performance.

What will I learn as a MentalGame101 student?

You will learn actionable, proven strategies you can implement immediately. My goal is to cut through all of the research, years of trial and error, and simply get the most powerful techniques into your hands. A few examples are scripted visualization, routines, journaling, and physical/mental rehearsal. Additionally, you'll learn how to cultivate a champion's mindset for long-term success, and develop a toolkit to handle the challenges inherent to competition.

How long does it take to see results?

First of all, mental performance training is NOT a magical, quick fix. That said, there are times when a particular strategy meets a competitor's immediate need and they see improvement right away. However, 90 days is suggested to complete the entire program. Of course, as with learning any new skill, success is dependent on the amount of time and effort an individual commits to implementing the strategies.

How is the training conducted?

All of the training is done virtually. One-on-one coaching is handled via weekly Zoom-type meetings. Homework is required and you should expect to spend 15-20 minutes per day working on the strategies and material.
